Writing

Meta 2013 will feature a total of five writing events.
The Prof. Barbra Naidu Memorial Prize for the Personal Essay

Participants must write a personal essay of about 1500-2000 words on the theme “Being Multilingual”.
The contest is open to school and college students and to the general public.
Submissions can be made either in person at the Dept. of English or sent by email (attach a word document) to barbranaiduprize@gmail.com on or before 31 Jan 2013.

The Prof. T.G. Vaidyanathan Memorial Film Review Contest

The contest is open to school and college students as well as the general public. Participants will watch a film and write an original 500-750 word review.

Date: Sunday 3 Feb 2013
The film will be screened from 1330 hrs to about 1500 hrs.
Entry Fee: Rs. 25/- per participant.
No limit on the number of entries per institution.
Entries from registered participants to be mailed in by  2100 hrs on 3 Feb 2013 to metajosephs@gmail.com

Rag-Mag

The contest is a teamevent for college students only (UG and PG).
Teams will collaborate on producing a satirical/humorous broadsheet covering the first five days of the festival.
All entries must be handed in at the reception or mailed by 1500hrs on 7 Feb 2013.
Entry Fee: Rs. 100/- per team.
No limit on the number of entries per institution.
Soft-copy entries from teams can be mailed in to metajosephs@gmail.com.  The  entry can also be submitted in hard copy.

 On-the-spot Fan Fiction

Date: Saturday 2 Feb 2013
Time: 1400hrs-1530hrs

Participants will be given a starting paragraph which they must use to produce and complete a story featuring known fictional/literary characters.
Open to school and college students, and to the general public.
Entry Fee: Rs. 25/- per participant

Funny Bone

Date: Monday 4 Feb 2013
Time: 1530hrs1700hrs

A humorous poetry contest open to individual contestants from school, college and the general public.
Participants will be given a set of topics on the spot.
Entry Fee: Rs. 25/- per participant.
